Experience and local knowledge
Successful investing demands broad experience as well as local knowledge. Akina’s team members combine experience in global investment and financial markets with knowledge of local politics, economic conditions, cultures and business practices.
Each team member has specialised knowledge of a region or sector, and works closely together with Akina’s partners, each of whom has over twenty years’ experience in investing.
The roots of Akina go back to 1998 and the establishment of a private equity business at Lombard Odier by Christopher S. Bödtker, who was joined soon after by Thomas Frei and Yvonne Stillhart. All three had worked together at UBS before deciding to put their entrepreneurial skills into practice by building their own private equity business. They were joined by Mark Zünd, who came to private equity from industry, engineering and consulting. In 2010, the group bought out Lombard Odier’s stake and founded Akina. Today, the partners make up Akina’s Investment Committee, while Yvonne Stillhart chairs the boards of the general partners and alternative investment fund manager.
