Akina, a leading specialist advisor to private equity vehicles, receives for the second time the Gold Award in the category: "Best LP, Regional Strategy" by Leaders League.
The award was presented last night at the 15th edition of the Private Equity Exchange & Awards in Paris, the major Pan-European summit on private equity and restructuring. It singles out the best performer based on criteria such as value creation, investment and firm strategy, long- and short-term track record, fundraising success and GP/LP relationships.
“We are very proud of this recognition,” Christopher S. Bödtker, Managing Partner of Akina, said. “It is a great appreciation of our hard work and active approach to uncovering outstanding investment opportunities. It is a highlight in a line of achievements of Akina in 2016, of which we are very proud. Just recently, Preqin, the alternative assets industry’s leading source of data and intelligence, has listed Akina amongst the most consistent top performing private equity fund of funds managers.”
Mark Zünd, Senior Partner of Akina comments: “Our performance is driven by strong macro convictions, resulting in a clear investment strategy which is then implemented by locally anchored professionals through a rigorous and disciplined investment process. After more than 20 years of network-building, we have access to the most attractive investment opportunities in Europe.”
Thomas Frei, Senior Partner of Akina adds: “2016 marks one of the most successful years of Akina. With Akina’s raised commitments since 1999 passing the EUR 2.5 billion hurdle this year, we have reached a significant milestone in the company’s history. We would like to thank all our clients for their trust and commitment in Akina.”
Akina’s flagship funds, the Euro Choice investment programmes, are comprised of primary, secondary, and direct co-investments, focusing exclusively on the European mid-market. Investments centre on buyout, growth capital, and special situation opportunities. Akina advises on EUR 2.5 billion with a global investor base. Akina will have the final closing for the sixth generation of its highly successful Euro Choice programme, a late primary fund of funds already in very positive performance territory, in January next year and is currently fundraising for the second generation of its secondary investment programme and for its first dedicated co-investment programme.
